Orenda - artist support

We came into this project after the design was complete, and construction was still underway. Artist Emily Eisenhart (who is a Seattle native that now lives in Austin, Texas) needed a local team to install this work, and we were honored to be asked by Spectrum Development to do so. This was the largest mural we’ve installed to date, not only in height but in general square footage, as it wraps almost 3 entire sides of the building, and it’s a huge building! As we were installing the work and having Emily approve the sketches from the ground, we learned that each abstract shape holds meaning and was inspired by community members, who each hand cut paper shapes that represented their neighborhood in a personal way. You can see images from the process on her site here.

Even though the installation took about 4 weeks total, the service we provide is quite simple to explain: we are given a rendering of a building, the approved art, and a mock up of how it should be applied to the building. We then work with the artist to order paints, rent a 90 foot boom lift, put our sunscreen and safety harnesses and get to painting!
