Jensen Marina - hand painted signage install

When the former Jensen Motor Boat Company building was sold, the new owners wanted to honor the history of the structure with hand painted nautical signage, designed by Factory North. This was our first time operating a lift on a boat ramp, and the views were spectacular! Using our tried and true pouncing technique we printed the knot and text on biodegradable paper, and pounced the pattern onto the wall, then hand painted it onto the historic wood slats.

Jensen Marina - mural design + install

With big plans for their newly opened cafe, Saint Bread, the owners were looking to commission a mural that was cohesive with the overall site, and would add a colorful backdrop for those mid-day coffee breaks or late summer nights on their back patio. The design inspiration started with The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai and morphed into an abstract nautical pattern you see here: ropes, buoys ocean currents, a setting sun and a J (for Jensen of course!) - it is one of our favorite projects to date! Designed by Lina Cholewinski.

Jensen Marina Food Truck and Drink Shack - hand painted signage install

Once Saint Bread became a staple in the neighborhood for kayakers, students, staff and doctors from UW, it was time for the next two genius concepts! Our collaborator Amanda painted the logo and signage on Hinoki, the site’s new food truck that features Japanese inspired treats cooked on a wood fire (there’s a pizza oven in the truck!), and we also installed art for the new drink shack Heave Ho that you can nearly boat right up to - the nautical flags Lina is painting in the image above send a special message to those who know that language.
